R&D Labs

UC-DEI - University of Coimbra, Dept. of Computer Science
WMPI started as one the first full implementations of the Message Passing Interface standard (MPI) for clusters based on Microsoft's Windows platforms (Win32). Its research and development started in University of Coimbra (UC-DEI) with work partially supported by the Portuguese Ministry of Science and Technology, the EC R&D Unit 326/94 (CISUC), the ESPRIT IV 23516 (WINPAR) project and the PRAXIS XXI 2/2.1/ TIT/1625/95 (PARQUANTUM) project.

The Department of Computer Science from University of Coimbra continues to work closely with Critical Software, SA to improve WMPI and add even more MPI standard compliance, improve performance, robustness, reliability and scalability.
